PRP - CGF

PRP is derived from the initials of the English expression “Platelet Rich Plasma” and means platelet rich plasma. PRP treatment is a new method that has been increasingly used in the treatment of various diseases, especially in the last few years. Although it was initially used mostly for cosmetic and anti-aging purposes, it has recently started to be used frequently, especially in musculoskeletal diseases. In this method, the drug is prepared from the patient’s own blood. So it is a natural treatment method.
PRP treatment is not a kind of symptom suppression treatment, but a treatment aimed directly at treating the disease.
Approximately 10-20 cc of blood is taken from the patient intravenously into tubes containing anticoagulants specially prepared for this purpose. The blood is passed through a special centrifugation process with the tube. This process takes about 10 minutes. After centrifugation, the cells of the blood other than platelets settle to the bottom of the tube. A yellow plasma fluid rich in platelets remains on top. At the bottom of this upper liquid there is a section of about 2 cc where platelets are even more concentrated. Thanks to a special system, the plasma containing approximately 1 million platelet cells per cubic millimeter is drawn into the injector where the injection will be administered. After this stage, it is applied to the desired area with the appropriate technique.
Depending on the area to be treated, 1-3 ml is applied once or 2-3 times at certain intervals by injection method. In knee arthritis, it is injected into the knee joint three times at one month intervals. In cases such as tennis elbow, achilles tendonitis, shoulder tendon ruptures, 2 injections are usually applied one month apart.
In which diseases is PRP used?
Knee arthritis
Cartilage (MENISCUS) damage in the knee
Avascular Necrosis
Heel spur
Tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow
Shoulder tendon rheumatism and tears
When does the healing effect of PRP treatment start?
It starts gradually within a few weeks after the injection and the healing process continues for 3 to 12 months. For this reason, there is no rapid pain reduction after PRP injections as with cortisone injections. The pain gradually decreases and disappears within months.
